The Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava Girona by Continental team is delighted to announce this new brand as the latest trusted addition to the festival’s family of sponsors and partners. To be more precise, Toteemi has come on-board as a Bronze partner in the pool of official sponsors.
Toteemi is a Spanish app that is starting to make a name for itself among MTB fans. This app is yet another step in the gamification of our rides and training sessions. Toteemi adds two more concepts for extra fun and motivation: battles and territories.
How Toteemi works
A Battle is a way to conquer new territories. The territories are a network of roads and trails that include 10 Strava segments (a “free” or “premium” Strava account is required to use Toteemi). Before taking part in a battle, you need to have done at least five of these segments. You don’t need to be the best in those segments and, if any of them were done some time ago and are recorded in your Strava account, there’s no need to do them again.
If you’re up for taking part in one of the battles suggested in Toteemi (the start day and time is indicated in the app) you’ll need to give it your all because you’ll be competing one-on-one with one of the other users who have signed up. There will be 10 opportunities or rounds to compete for each of the segments.
The winner will go on to face a new rival. The loser will be eliminated… And so, there will be different knock-out rounds until only one, the “Chief” of the territory, is left. It’s similar to a “king of the track” on Strava segments.
You can also set up one-on-one battles; if you challenge the “Chief” and win, you conquer that territory.
Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava Girona by Continental is the year’s biggest and most prestigious cycling event.
