Cannondale has been announced as the festival’s main sponsor
Today marked the official presentation of the second edition of the Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava-Girona Bike Show, which is due to take place next year from 8-10 June. Doing so renews the commitment to an international event that, in the first edition, brought 30,000 visitors to the area in and around the Fontajau Pavilion for three days of sporting and commercial activities. Last year, some 350 brands exhibited their products, while over 4,000 cyclists took part in the fifteen-odd competitions in all cycling disciplines.
The presentation was held at Girona’s Fontajau Municipal Pavilion and featured the president of the Girona Provincial Council, Pere Vila, the mayor of the city, Marta Madrenas, and the cycling festival’s director of operations, Oriol Sallent.
The event also served to announce the inclusion of Cannondale, a leading American cycling company, as the festival’s main sponsor.
The brand’s marketing manager, Ignacio Gimenez, says that “At Cannondale, we are committed to promoting the event concept that Sea Otter Europe epitomises, in which cycling fans are at the centre of all activities; from the competitive events to recreational activities. We like this proximity to fans; it’s where we feel most at home. It’s also an opportunity to share experiences with them and for them to test our bikes and see for themselves the technological advantages they offer, which helps us. A real experience.”
Notable changes in the second edition of Sea Otter Europe will be the growth in commercial and exhibition space, which, at 40,000m2, is twice that of last year. This increase is fuelled by the cycling industry’s high demand for space, particularly among international brands that bring with them large stands and require a great deal of floor space.
With regards to sporting events, this year, the Sport No Limit Travel International Cycle Tour by Ghost has become a stop on the prestigious Gran Fondo World Tour and, in 2018, will take place over two stages on roads in Girona, the Costa Brava and the Pyrenees. This event is expected to draw more than 3,000 cyclists. Further international notoriety has also been gained by the festival’s top MTB race, the Catalan Cup International Massi Biking Point, which in Girona will boast a class 1 ranking according to the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).
In addition to the numerous cycling exhibitions, the line-up of sporting activities at the 2018 Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava-Girona Bike Show accommodates a comprehensive and diverse array of events, in which there is something for everyone, whether you are a world champion cyclist or simply a biking enthusiast.
