Garmin will once again be present as a technology sponsor at Europe’s most important cycling festival. An event where attendees will be able to enjoy activities and exhibitions, as well as keep up to date with all the latest news from the company.

Garmin has once again become an official technology sponsor of Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava Girona by Continental 2024, a world-renowned festival for the cycling industry and cycling enthusiasts.

The inspiration and origin lies in Sea Otter Classic, one of the biggest cycling festivals in the world, which has been held in California since 1991 and has continued to grow and evolve ever since. As for the European version, this will be its 8th edition in Girona and will take place from 20th to 22nd September, following the great success of last year’s edition, when more than 64,000 visitors from 112 countries attended the event over the three days to enjoy the more than 400 exhibiting brands and a total of 525 demobikes, with over 4200 test bookings from 50 different bike brands.

This year, the event will feature a full sports programme with tests for both competitive athletes and amateurs and an expo area where the best brands in the sector will showcase their most advanced solutions. There will also be demo circuits designed to enjoy and test bikes, as well as a host of activities specially designed for cycling professionals.

Garmin brings its cycling ecosystem closer to support all athletes

Garmin will be a technology supplier again, as part of the GPS test, as it did last year. Thus, attendees will be able to test its products within the demobike programme, being great allies for gravel, road, urban, ebike and mountain bike routes

During the festival, attendees will be able to see some of the most innovative and benchmark products developed by Garmin for this sector first-hand: Edge 540 and Edge 840; the Varia® range; Rally® potentiometers and Tacx® rollers (users will be able to try out the latter).

In addition, through the Sea Otter tester app, users can test equipment from the Edge® range, such as the solar versions of the Edge 1040, 840 and 540 and the Edge Explore 2.

The main ranges are as follows:

  • Edge® 540 and 840: these new models in the bike computer range have been designed for all types of cyclists. It features state-of-the-art navigation, detailed performance information, safety and tracking functions, among many other features.

These new GPS-enabled bike computers combine a wide range of performance-based training metrics, including one-of-a-kind comprehensive training geared to each user’s personal goals. Plus, they feature enhanced navigation support with Multiband GNSS, connected features and more – all in a lightweight design to help cyclists reach their goals. Advanced performance metrics on the Edge 540 and 840 series (including suggested daily training plans and advanced cycling dynamics) can provide riders with dynamic information and analysis, all to improve performance and provide a snapshot of strengths and weaknesses before tackling a race.

And on solar-charged models, athletes will have even more time on the road with battery life ranging from 32 hours of heavy use to 60 hours in saver mode.

  • Varia: consisting of radars specially designed for cyclists, this product range is designed to make cycling safer by allowing cyclists to see and be seen by vehicles when cycling on the road. These devices also warn cyclists if a vehicle is approaching from behind up to 140 metres away and some models, those with a built-in tail light, alert vehicle drivers of the cyclist’s presence up to 1.6 km away.

They can operate completely independently (no need to link them to a smartphone) and the latest model integrates a camera that continuously records and automatically saves images if it detects an incident.

  • Rally: this line of potentiometers allows you to push the limits in any of the modalities. Developed to meet the needs of any type of cyclist, these potentiometers are designed for all types of bikes, whether road, MTB, gravel, cross-country or cyclo-cross. They are also durable and can be easily transferred from one bike to another.
  • Tacx®: the products in this range have been designed to make the most of indoor cycling, allowing you to cycle indoors when the weather does not allow you to do so outdoors, or to boost your performance for outdoor rides.

Garmin will also have a stand at the festival where visitors will be able to see its full range of products and new products and get answers to all their questions from the brand’s professionals.

Soon all the routes of all the Sea Otter Europe sporting events will be available on the festival’s website so that you can test and practice each of them before taking part in them during the festival. In addition, participants will have access to the tracks to download them to their Garmin devices.

Designed on the inside for the outdoors, Garmin products have revolutionised the lives of runners, cyclists, swimmers and athletes of all levels and abilities. Committed to developing technology that helps people stay active and improve their performance. Garmin believes that every day is an opportunity to innovate and surpass yesterday.
