Garmin becomes the main sponsor of Europe’s leading cycling festival. Attendees will be able to enjoy activities and exhibitions, as well as keep up to date with all the company’s latest news.

March 2025. Garmin becomes the main technological sponsor of Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava-Girona by Garmin: a world renowned festival for the cycling industry and cycling enthusiasts alike.

As usual, Garmin is back as the festival’s main technology supplier, but this year it is doing so in a very special way: becoming the main sponsor of the event and accompanying the change of name, which in 2025 will be Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava-Girona by Garmin. This collaboration came about naturally as both brands share the core values of the spirit that drives cycling: the pursuit of pushing limits, breaking barriers, finding new challenges, enjoying the sport.

In the words of Salvador Alcover, Director General of Garmin Iberia: “We are delighted and honoured to sponsor such an important festival like Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava-Girona by Garmin again, not only as a technological partner but also as main sponsors. Those of us in the cycling industry understand that we’re constantly striving to improve, which is why we at Garmin offer all cycling enthusiasts the best technology we can provide to help them achieve their goals and overcome any obstacles.

Sea Otter Europe: much more than just a cycling festival

Sea Otter Europe is much more than just a cycling event. It is a global community that brings together professionals, amateurs, families and enthusiasts from all walks of life. It was inspired by and started with the Sea Otter Classic, one of the world’s largest cycling festivals, held in California since 1991, which has continued to grow and evolve ever since. As for the European version, this will be its ninth edition in Girona and will take place from 19th to 21st September, following the great success of last year’s edition; where more than 68,000 visitors of 112 nationalities attended the three-day festival to enjoy the more than 500 exhibiting brands, and a total of 597 demobike bikes, with more than 4,790 test bookings of 50 different bike brands.

In this new edition, Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava-Girona by Garmin is launching its new image with a change that makes a clear statement of intent: the festival is entering a new era. Changing its characteristic red colour to blue symbolises the maturity of an event already established as one of the main meeting points for the industry. An event that opens up a new perspective, continuing with the commitment to innovation and cycling technology, and which is ready to take the definitive leap to become a more international global festival. This new chapter comes with a key partnership: Garmin joins as main sponsor, reinforcing its commitment to cutting-edge technology, precision and performance in cycling. Together, we will take the Sea Otter Europe experience to the next level.

This is a step forward in our history. We want Sea Otter Europe to be a place in which the cycling community can grow, innovate and enjoy unforgettable experiences. We’re also excited to be making this leap with Garmin, a leader in technology and performance, who share our vision of taking cycling to the next level,” said Albert Balcells, Director of Sea Otter Europe.

Garmin brings its cycling ecosystem closer to support all athletes

In this new edition, Garmin brings precision, exploration and performance to cycling with its entire ecosystem of devices. The company will be present at the festival, with a stand featuring experts who will present its products to spectators and participants alike. In addition, attendees will be able to test their products within the demobike programme, being the great allies for routes, gravel, road, urban, ebike and mountain bike tours.

On the other hand, this renewed partnership not only involves the presence of Garmin in the festival’s name, but also training sessions, interviews and competitions, among many other surprises. Follow Garmin’s social media accounts to make sure you don’t miss anything!

During the festival, attendees will be able to discover first-hand some of Garmin’s reference products developed in this area: Edge® 1050; the Varia® range; the Rally® potentiometers and Tacx® rollers, and even try them out thanks to the Sea Otter tester app. And, of course, they will also be able to discover first-hand the brand’s latest innovations.

The main ranges are as follows:

Edge® 1050: featuring a bright AMOLED display, allowing for greater visibility of directions and topographic maps. It also includes improved features such as power guidance, which now takes into account wind data and the rider’s current stamina to make real-time adjustments to power targets. ClimbPro allows cyclists to see the remaining ascent and gradient of each climb, whether a ride is in progress or not. Advanced cycling dynamics provide riders with feedback on their performance and mountain bike metrics such as jump count, jump distance, Grit® and Flow™ help track each epic ride.
Varia: composed of radars specially designed for cyclists, this product range is designed to improve safety by allowing cyclists to see and be seen by vehicles when cycling on the road. These devices also warn cyclists if a vehicle is approaching from behind up to 140 metres away and some models, those with a built-in rear light, alert vehicle drivers of the cyclist’s presence up to 1.6 km away.
Rally: this line of potentiometers allows the limits to be exceeded in any modality. Developed to meet the needs of any type of cyclist, these potentiometers are designed for all types of bikes, whether road, MTB, gravel, cross-country or cyclo-cross.
Tacx®: the products that make up this range have been designed to make the most of indoor cycling, allowing you to cycle indoors when the weather does not allow you to do so outdoors or, also, to enhance your performance for outdoor rides.

All routes for the Sea Otter Europe by Garmin 2025 sporting events will soon be available on the festival’s website so that you can test and train for each of them before taking part in them during the festival. In addition, participants will also be able to download the tracks to their Garmin devices.

Designed on the inside for the outdoors, Garmin products have revolutionised the lives of runners, cyclists, swimmers and athletes of all levels and abilities. Committed to developing technology that helps people stay active and elevate their performance. Garmin believes that every day is an opportunity to innovate and surpass yesterday.
