Registration for many events opens on 25 April 2023

Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava-Girona by Continental 2023 is taking place in Girona from 22 to 24 September. This will be the seventh edition of one of the continent’s leading international cycling festivals. As is customary, the sports programme is one of the keys to the festival’s success, with a wide variety of options for all spectators and types of cycling

The presentation of the Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava Girona by Continental sports programme is always one of the most important moments of the year, as thousands of participants from many countries await the unveiling of the events programme in order to decide which one(s) they will sign up for.

The Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava Girona by Continental festival is ideal for all cycling enthusiasts, professionals and amateurs, as it offers the chance to spend an entire weekend cycling in such an ideal setting as Girona. Visit the more than 200 stands to discover the latest in countless cycling products, try out hundreds of test bikes of different brands and types, talk directly to the makers’ own technicians and staff, enjoy yourself as a spectator or take part in the many sporting events, in which simple amateurs who go out every day or every week to train mingle with the world’s TOP professionals who come to participate in some of the events held over the weekend.

No fewer than twelve different races are featured in the sporting programme of Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava Girona by Continental 2023

In addition, this year the organisers have opted for a joint opening of most sporting events, with a special discount on the entry fee during Registration Month, which runs from 25 April to 25 May 2023, both dates inclusive. Specifically, the events that will open for registration on 25 April are:

Every year, around 5,000 participants from all over the world take part in the different events of the Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava Girona by Continental sports programme, turning Girona into the cycling capital of the world and a veritable cycling paradise during the weekend of 22-24 September.

The vast majority of cycling sports will be featured on the wide-ranging sports programme:

Scott Marathon. The most authentic competitive marathon and open circuit in Spain.

Girona’s trails will be enjoyed by amateurs and the world’s best cyclists. The race has category-1 UCI points and is also suitable for open categories in two courses, the 67 and 42 km. These are ideal routes through the Llémena Valley with fun trails and a route suitable for all mountain biking enthusiasts.

Shimano Super Cup Massi. The Cross Country Championship with the highest UCI points allocation in Southern Europe.

One of the world’s oldest and most prestigious XCO championships, featuring the participation of the best international specialists on the Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava Girona by Continental circuit. This year the course is made up of 6 races and Girona is the last one, where the 2023 champions will surely be decided. The Girona event is category C1.

The Ciclobrava by Orbea. Road cycling at Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava Girona by Continental.

Three distances to make the most of the Girona-Costa Brava roads. This is the grand tour, the supreme road race of the festival. The Ciclobrava by Orbea is part of the prestigious Gran Fondo World Tour international circuit and there will be three routes of different distances to choose from, depending on preference and physical fitness: 70, 100 and 140 km. All traverse the Gavarres massif, whose roads overlook the Costa Brava and the sea, as well as various mountain passes of inland Girona. Any fan of road cycling and touring should not miss out on this cycling race.

Half Pirinexus Challenge. One of the most prestigious and well-known gravel races in Europe.

One of the most prestigious, long-established gravel events in Europe, this year the focus is on the short course, which means that many more gravel fans will dare to try it.

This is a circular route that runs through the counties of Girona and some of the most beautiful areas and trails for gravel riding in one of the most renowned areas in Europe for this sport.

The Gravel Ride Tour Girona. The gravel cycling tour that shows off the best Girona’s countryside has to offer.

The Gravel Ride Tour Girona, part of the Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava Girona by Continental, is an event that is both one of the most beautiful for the participants as it is relaxing, because it is a non-competitive cycling tour that passes through some of the loveliest terrain in provincial Girona, plus a very suitable distance for those just starting out in gravel riding

MTB Classic Sea Otter Europe.

This is one of the festival’s prettiest and most enjoyable events, a fun “race” brimming with nostalgia, where participants ride on classic bikes, veritable jewels of mountain biking dating back to before1996. The participants even wear vintage kits reminiscent of old brands and the teams from the 80s and 90s, all in a great, laid-back atmosphere. A tribute to the early days of mountain biking.

The Corratec eBike day, an electric bike outing that combines tourism, gastronomy and sport throughout Girona.

One of the hottest trends in cycling is the electric bicycle. Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava Girona by Continental naturally wants always to be at the forefront of new trends, which is why it proposes, once again, this 30 km cycling tour through incredible forests surrounding the city of Girona, with no pressure and no rush. A perfect combination of sport and tourism.

Girona Urban Ride

An urban ride through the historic centre of the beautiful city of Girona, a city very well suited to urban cycling. Girona has some very charming spots. On the way there is a stop for a snack. Format with guide. Option of trying out a city bike.

Super Youth Cup

The young hopefuls in mountain biking will also be present at Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava Girona by Continental. As was the case in prior editions, Ocisport is committed to promoting the foundations of this wonderful sport of cycling with the Super Youth Cup, where both boys and girls participate, both those starting out and wanting to get to know and form part of the community (in the OPEN category) and future prospects that have already started their journey (in the PRO categories).

World ebike Series UCI E-MTB World Cup

The World eBike Series is the world’s first UCI-sanctioned e-bike course where every race counts towards the World Championships. The rainbow jersey is at stake. Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava Girona by Continental is hosting this event for the third consecutive time.

MTB Eliminator Continental Series

The ELIMINATOR races are one of the most innovative and spectacular in cross country, where riders compete in groups of 4 on a short, explosive urban course cheered on non-stop by the public. The top two of each start go on to the next round until they reach the grand finale with 4 men and women riders in each category.

This year, Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava Girona by Continental will host an MTB Eliminator Continental Series event for the first time.

2nd Sea Otter Europe Peu a Baix Girona Trial

Trial bikes will also have a place for the second year running with a promotional event for the speciality within the festival grounds.
